Furby-like toys that peck their way out of an egg are the most popular toy for Christmas 2016 and shoppers in Norfolk are struggling to get their hands on one.

Hatchimals are an interactive bird-like creatures that respond to human touch, light up, make sounds and eventually hatch from inside their egg.

Children then have the opportunity to raise their Hatchimal through three stages, teaching it how to walk, talk, dance and play games.

The quirky gift currently retails at £59.99, however demand for the toys, which have been flying off the shelves, is now becoming even more apparent, with one person from Thetford selling the toy for £150 on Gumtree.

There were also queues outside Roys in Wroxham before the shop even openedwhen the new delivery arrived yesterday and the toys they got in were sold out within minutes. On the Tesco website all of the lines of the toy are currently out of stock and there are none available at any Argos store in Norfolk.

Earlier this month The Entertainer in the Castle Mall received a shipment of six Hatchimals and staff reported they had sold out within two minutes of the store opening.
