You didn’t expect this season to be plain sailing, did you?

I’m afraid to say when you’re talking about this run of poor form, it’s a case of deal with it. Of course it’s frustrating to accept mid-table mediocrity, but I think we need to learn very quickly as supporters that this season is going to be an extremely rocky road.

Does Norwich City need stability, more than success?

As a club, if you look into the ins and outs last summer we’ve had to sell a lot of players, which for the record, I totally agree with – but due to finances, we’ve (mostly) not been able to replace with like-for-like players, ability-wise. The reality is, when we sell a player from now on, we’re not going to be able to spend more than half that income. There’s too much risk involved and I’m okay with that now, given the track record and after-burn of the previous chief executives.

Everything is under the microscope right now. However, personally I feel like things were taken way out of proportion after the defeat to high-flying Cardiff.

Of course it goes without saying that I’m worried, but calls on social media to sack Daniel Farke, in my opinion, were completely rash and totally knee-jerk. Yes, there’s a time limit if the form continues and that’s why in my head I’ve set a Christmas deadline, when my optimism and positivity will run extremely thin.

What really wasn’t ideal was this week’s ‘letter-gate’ tweeted out from Simon Alexander. It’s a shame when the players need our support the most, atmosphere is actually being forced down a notch. Talk about kick us while we’re down. If there is too much red tape with safe standing right now then that’s fair enough. Surely it’s now got to be the time to introduce a singing section to Carrow Road. I’m embarrassed that I’m jealous of a club like Crystal Palace for actually making this initiative happen and not us. Are we that far behind the times?

I hope and pray we get a result today, because if we don’t I genuinely believe you’ll start to see more and more empty seats at Carrow Road than ever before in the lead-up to Christmas.

All I actually want for Christmas is for us to score more than one goal in a game!

On that note, is Nelson Oliveira trying too hard to score? His chance to provide an assist in Cardiff was a glaring one, so let’s hope he can deliver today at Carrow Road. I can totally understand fans’ frustration with him right now, given we know just how good this guy is when he’s on song. He’s definitely got the ability to bring the game to the opponent and shoot from distance – something that I like, given how guilty we’ve been in the last four to five seasons of trying to pass the ball into the net.

It’s time to show real character and oomph against Sheffield Wednesday. Let’s be positive now – what better time to play them? Their fans are unsettled too, having also had an under-par season so far. They’ve stuck with their gaffer Carlos Carvalhal, despite failing to reach the Premier League promised land through the play-offs at the second time of asking. Surely their extremely wealthy owners will have already turned the screw before the game today.

Due to the fact the pressure is on for both teams, you can write free-flowing football off your list right now. This one is going to be a cagey affair. However, I see this as too big an opportunity for Daniel Farke’s Norwich City not to take. Win your home games. Keep the faith.

On The Ball, City!
