Hunstanton Town Hall was decked out in flags and bunting as 150 of the town's younger residents celebrated the Royal Wedding today.

The party, organised by Hunstanton Carnival Committee, was a sell-out event.

Carnival chair Rita Caldicott said: 'The girl guides have been helping, the brownies and beavers made the table decorations and the carnival committee made all the food.

'We've got a magic show, punch and judy, a disco and party games.'

Youngsters attending were also given a certificate, recording their attendance at the event.

Tickets sold out weeks ago, with those without them having to be turned away on the door.

'I thought a lot of people would come but I'm overwhelmed by the fact we could have sold twice as many tickets,' said Miss Caldicott. 'We're hoping to do one on the Green next year for the Jubilee.'

Hunstanton is staging a festival weekend around the Royal Wedding.

Today also saw a celebration tea at the Rendezvous Cafe, for the town's longest-married couples, a barbecue at the United Services Club and a beer and cocktails festival at the Golden Lion.

Tomorrow there will be wedding lunches at the Conservative Club, live music and a hog roast at The Spinney, a barbecue and fairground rides on The Green - and William and Kate cut-outs for a romantic souvenir photo opportunity.

Sunday sees power kiting demonstrations, vintage vehicles and the Hunstanton Concert Band performing in the Bandstand from 2-4pm.

On Monday night (7pm), the band will be staging a gala concert at the Town Hall.
