Around 60 West Runton residents watched the wedding from the comfort of the village social club in Water Lane, where licensee Chris Beckett laid on a street party with flags, bunting and buffet tea.

'We had people queuing to come in at 9.30 this morning,' said barman Lloyd Watts. 'I think some of the younger people who hadn't seen Prince Charles and Diana get married were really surprised by how much of a fairytale wedding it was and we had a few tears of emotion.'

After tucking in to sandwiches and sausage rolls, youngsters were presented with Kate and William commemorative mugs.
