Norwich North MP Chloe Smith has welcomed news that Norwich will receive additional funding to tackle rough sleeping.

This week it was announced by James Brokenshire, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, that Norwich City Council will receive £260,669 of extra funding to tackle rough sleeping. It is Norwich's allocation from Central Government of the targeted £30m Rough Sleeping Initiative fund.

This comes on top of £146,194 which the council received for 2018/19 from the Flexible Homelessness Support Grant.

Ms Smith said: 'Many partners including the city council must continue to work together to put this money to best use to help rough sleepers. My constituents are looking for reassurance that those who need help are getting it, but also that other street issues such as drugs are being dealt with effectively. The police are working hard and have my full support, but the issues are complex and this needs people to work together.'
