The body of Nikolaus Paul Stephens, of Gertrude Road, Norwich, was found at around 4.30am on January 14 on the Norwich southern bypass.

It is understood the 41-year-old had just left the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he was a patient, before he was hit.

An inquest heard how he was walking along the A47, between the B1108 and A11, when he was struck by the vehicle.

A post-mortem report found he died from a severe head injury.

Last month police spoke to the driver of a vehicle believed to be involved in the fatal hit-and-run.

But a police spokesman today said investigations into the incident were still ongoing.

The inquest into his death opened on January 28, but has since been adjourned until July 7.
