The event, held on Thursday, September 14, aimed to bring the reality of the condition home and encourage empathy for those living with the disease.

A practical session held at the event aimed to bring to life some of the day-to-day frustrations and effects that living with dementia can cause.

Caring Homes' Dementia training lead, Michele Saunders, says: 'These events will enable participants to learn about dementia and help them to challenge the way people think, act and talk about the condition.

'We want to actively promote a dementia friendly community through sharing our knowledge and expertise. These sessions will increase awareness of dementia which can be useful to all sorts of businesses and organisations, and help people understand what life is like for those living with the condition.'
