A team of volunteers at Olive House residential home in Newton Flotman have been shortlisted for a national award.

The volunteer 'buddies' formed earlier this year spend time with residents who have reduced mobility or are unable to leave their bedrooms due to their health conditions.

If the volunteers win the Caring UK award, they will be presented with a trophy at a ceremony at the National Railway Museum in York on December 8.

Kerry Gooda, Olive House's head of care, said: 'We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for the Caring UK Awards and for our volunteer 'buddies' to be recognised in this way. We're so grateful to everyone who makes such a difference to the daily lives of our residents. The buddy group continually finds ways to keep residents engaged and involved in daily life at the home as much as possible, and we are very grateful for their time, efforts and energy.'
