A car has become stuck after mounting a roundabout on the NDR.

Travelling on the roundabout at the junction with North Walsham Road on the Norwich Northern Distributor Road, a commuter filmed the car which had driven onto the verge of the roundabout.

They said it appeared as though the vehicle had lost a wheel.

Norfolk Police said they have had no reports of a collision in the area this morning.

John Birchall, public liaison officer for the NDR, said: “We have had several incidents at roundabouts since the opening of the first section of the A1270 NDR (Fakenham Road to Cromer Road) in November.

“All the junctions on the open sections have undergone day and night independent safety audits, but we are monitoring the way the road is actually being used, including incidents such as this.

“All the appropriate signs are in place and illuminated, including large directional signs, two ‘roundabout ahead’ warnings and arrows and chevrons on the roundabouts themselves.

“People taking the care expected of all drivers should have no difficulty.”

The bill for the road, which will stretch from the A1067 Fakenham Road to the A47 at Postwick once it is complete, is now estimated to be at least £205m - which works out a £16.5m a mile.

Two sections of the 12.5 mile road have opened, with the council hoping to get the final section open in March.
