Italian coffee chain Caffé Nero is to open a new shop in the intu Chapelfield shopping centre this summer.

The store already has an outlet on Gentleman's Walk, opposite Norwich Market, and another inside House of Fraser's store, at Chapelfield. There has been no announcement on what, is anything, will happen to this store.

Paul McCarthy, general manager of intu Chapelfield, said: 'We're very excited to welcome a new Caffé Nero to intu Chapelfield later this year, offering premium Italian coffee, a warm and welcoming atmosphere; good food and great personal service.

'Work is currently under way to prepare the space for our new tenant and, while no date is yet set, we expect the store to open this summer.'

The new Caffé Nero shop will occupy the unit and the front of the St Stephens Street entrance just metres from a Starbucks branch.

The news comes less than a week after intu Chapelfield confirmed that the Clas Ohlson branch in the centre would close within weeks.

The decision came after the Swedish hardware store said it wanted focus on developing more smaller-format stores around London.

Norwich's branch employs fifteen people and is one of seven stores which will shut its doors across the country.

A spokesperson for intu Chapelfield said there is no update on who will occupy the unit.
