Police investigating the theft of thousands of pounds worth of cable have managed to link the crime to the theft of a unique vehicle.

Copper cable and 1,500 litres of red diesel was stolen from business premises at Bessemer Way last weekend, between 4.45pm on Friday, November 9 and the Monday morning, November 12.

Police now believe the cable may have been transported on a unique custom-made vehicle stolen from Suffolk Road in Great Yarmouth around 4.55pm on Sunday, November 11.

The Isuzu van, registration AU05 EXZ, was specially designed to carry up to 4.5 tonnes and police believe it may have been driven to South Yorkshire after it and the cable were stolen.

Great Yarmouth officers are liaising with police in that county as enquiries continue but are continuing to ask anyone locally who may have information to call PC Paul Bassham at Gorleston on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
