The results from the Breckland Council by-election for Attleborough's Queens and Besthorpe ward show the Conservatives have held their seat.
Conservative Stephen Askew secured 546 votes.
Independent candidate Tony Crouch secured 360 votes and Labour's Phil Spiby got 393 votes.
The by-election was held following the resignation of Karen Pettitt, former mayor of the town, who moved to Hong Kong with her husband Neil.
The turn out for the by-election was 24.91pc and there was a total of 1,304 ballot papers.
