A butcher who has just opened a new shop in the centre of Dereham says he believes the town has a strong economic future.
Tony Perkins said he had received a positive response from customers from all sections of the town's population since adding the Norwich Street store to his existing shops at Mattishall and Attleborough.
He said the recession had not put him off extending his business, although he admitted to a few nervous moments.
Mr Perkins said: 'It's a good vote of confidence in the town: there's enough people here to survive.
'I'm not trying to compete with Tesco or Morrisons – they have got their own market and compete amongst themselves. We can beat them in quality and service. We are all professionals: we can do the finer points.'
