An East Anglian brewery has a reason for good cheer after winning a listing deal with supermarket giant Asda.

Three of St Peter's Brewery's ales are going to be stocked in a number of Asda's East Anglian stores from October 14, including its India Pale Ale, which won Asda's beer competition in 2009.

Also getting shelf space will be St Peter's Old Style Porter and Golden Ale, in Asda stores from Great Yarmouth in the east to Romford in the south, taking in Ipswich and Norwich along the way.

The firm, based in Bungay, already has one of its beers in Asda stores nationwide, another two stocked in 170 stores in the north of England and three others stocked in East Anglian outlets of the supermarket - which means some Asda's in the region have seven St Peter's Brewery beers.

The deal is carried out through Elveden Fine Foods, the leading wholesale distributor for the firm.

Colin Cordy, managing director of St Peter's Brewery, said: 'We've always enjoyed a good relationship with them and it's not only great for the new business it brings us but it raises our profile and brand awareness on our own doorstep.'

The brewery was founded in 1996 by chairman John Murphy, a world-renowned branding expert.

Today, exports account for half St Peter's beer volume, and it is on sale in 32 countries, from America to Sweden and from Russia to Canada - the firm's biggest export markets.
