Grant funding has helped a regional signs and graphics franchiser to upgrade its equipment.

Signs Express has purchased a CNC (computer numerical control) router, a cutting machine designed for hard materials like wood, steel and plastics.

The company, which has more than 60 franchises in the UK and Ireland, says the new machine will 'allow greater control of quality, continuity, response time, flexibility and product innovation'.

Funding towards the router was provided by New Anglia Growth Hub, Suffolk County Council, HSBC, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Small Grants Scheme and Complete CNC Solutions.

The router will be installed at a franchise-owned production centre off Barker Street in Norwich. It is the first part of a four-phase plan to update and improve the centre, with more than £85,000 invested so far.

A clutch of new staff has also recently been recruited at the production centre.
