A brother and sister who have taken on their father's business after his death last month are determined to continue the success of the long-established family firm.

MJF Tuddenham in Cawston, near Aylsham, was set up nearly 50 years ago by Michael Tuddenham.

Specialising in pressure washers and air compressors, it has built up a strong reputation amongst farmers and is now seeing fourth generations of farming families buy products from them.

Mr Tuddenham, who was still actively involved in the business and had lived on the Norwich Road site until recent years, died last month aged 86.

The grandfather-of-two had set up the business back in 1965 when he was in his late thirties. He had previously worked for Brown Brothers in Norwich.

The business will now continue to be run by his son Alan and daughter Sally, who have both worked for the 'small family concern' since they left school.

Ms Tuddenham, who started to work for her father's business at the age of 16, said: 'It would've been his 50th year in business on his own next year - he spent all his life in that line of business.

'Dad always lived on the place, he was always here whatever time.'

She said the company was not on the internet and has only ever advertised in the Eastern Daily Press.

'Our business is all done on word of mouth,' said the mother-of-one. 'We're now on our third or fourth generation of customers. We give good service and being a small family concern, we look after our customers.

'We can be here 24/7, we never close. If someone needs us in an emergency, we are always here.'

She said the business will carry on 'exactly the same'. 'I'm not quite 50 yet and Alan is in his 50s - it will carry on as the two of us for the foreseeable future,' said Ms Tuddenham, who lives near Reepham.
