Norwich developers to open up government archives
Specialist developers based at Norwich are to work on a major new contract to open up government information to the public.
The Stationery Office (TSO), based in Duke Street, which is part of the Williams Lea Group, has been awarded a five-year contract to publish the London, Edinburgh, and Belfast Gazettes, the official journals of record of government, both online and in print in an undisclosed deal.
The new contract takes effect on January 1 and offers significant savings and benefits to the public sector.
The Gazettes contain statutory information, notices and advertisements setting out the business of government and putting it permanently on the public record.
Negotiations focused on providing a complete service more attuned to the digital era and the online use of data.
The TSO bid was judged to offer the best value for money for government as well as significant improvements to service delivery and a strong commitment to developing the business.
Marco Pierleoni, CEO of TSO and Williams Lea for public sector clients said: 'We are delighted to continue working with The National Archives to transform the Gazettes' service.
