Miniature horse classes have been added to the schedule for Royal Norfolk Show for the first time this year.

Horses from the Norfolk-based Looking Glass stud, including the Miniature Horse Club of Great Britain's (MHCGB) National Spring Show Supreme Champion for 2012 and National Finals Supreme 2011 – Looking Glass Indian Spirit - will be among the competitors.

Looking Glass Indian Spirit is also the first horse to have qualified for the MHCGB's Perfect 10 Diamond Championship to find the 10 best miniature horses in Great Britain.

Looking Glass Emiliano Blanco, Argentinean Leopard Spotted Stallion who was Supreme Champion Miniature Horse Of The Year 2010 and Reserve Supreme 2011 will also be competing at the Royal Norfolk Show.

Image Man, who breeds and trains miniature horses in Norfolk, said: 'We're looking forward to showing our horses at the Royal Norfolk Show this year.

'It's great that miniature classes have been added to the schedule and it's particularly special for us because we have to travel so far around the UK and even into continental Europe so it will be lovely to be competing nearer to home at the prestigious Royal county show where our stud is based.'

Miniature horse classes at the Royal Norfolk Show will include qualifiers for the MHCGB National Championship Show and the International Miniature Horse and Pony Society Miniature Horse of the Year Show, and the Anglo Euorpean Miniature Horse Championships (AEMHS) at Equifest, East of England Showground.

Frances Norton, Royal Norfolk Show equine administrator, said: 'I'm delighted to be able to offer the miniature horse classes this year. All of the exhibitors have been talking about it and there's lots of support for the new classes already, so hopefully the classes will grow in future as well.

'I can't wait to meet the exhibitors and their miniature horses. They're sure to be real crowd pleasers and I hope visitors to the Royal Norfolk Show will come and have a look.'

The miniature horse classes will take place in the Glaven Ring at the Royal Norfolk Show on the first day of the show, Wednesday June 27.
