More than 10 of the biggest companies in Norfolk and Suffolk have yet to report their gender pay gaps.

With less than a week until the deadline around 16 of the counties' Top100 companies by turnover which have 250 or more employees, and thus fall under the new legislation, have not reported the difference between pay and bonuses for men and women in their organisations.

Employers across a range of sectors have got their paperwork in before the April 5 deadline – and the pay gaps have almost all come out in favour of men.

Some exceptions have so far been revealed – at sports vehicle manufacturer Ransomes Jacobsen in Ipswich, the median pay gap is 7% in favour of women, and at media group Archant women earned 8.5% more in bonuses, according to the mean average.

Many have used their gender pay gap reports to explain the discrepancies in pay, with the majority stating that the uneven distribution of men and women across the pay bands in their companies – with lower-paying jobs more commonly occupied by women – is driving the gap.

The EDP and EADT will bring you more coverage of gender pay gaps at the region's businesses and public sector organisations ahead of next Wednesday's reporting deadline.
