A key spokesman for Norfolk agriculture is urging farmers to champion their industry as they prepare for life after Brexit.
Tony Bambridge will succeed Thomas Love as Norfolk county chairman of the National Farmers' Union (NFU) after the organisation's annual conference next week.
Mr Bambridge, who is managing director of B&C Farming at Marsham and also a tenant farmer at Park Farm, Blickling, said it is important that farmers take every opportunity to explain what British agriculture delivers and to ensure the right balance between food production and the environment.
'Modern agriculture needs to get its message across,' he said. 'Anyone who has had a meal today is going to need a farmer somewhere to produce that food,' he said.
'If we're a responsible society we will do our bit in this country to ensure we have efficient production and take whatever steps are necessary to also maintain a viable environment and habitat.'
