A new salon is helping transform a disused site into a one-stop shop for health and beauty needs.

Harmony Hair and Beauty Salon in Mill Road, Cromer, was officially opened on Friday with a cake to mark the special opening and a range of special offers and a prize draw for customers.

The business is owned by Paula Green, 45, from Cromer, herself a qualified hairdresser and Body Shop at Home consultant, and her husband Patrick.

The site where the salon is based was for many years a newsagents before it was closed.

But rising from the ashes the shop has now been transformed over the last two years into a salon offering a range of services.

Mrs Green said: 'We bought it two years ago and converted it, we thought it would a fantastic place to have a beauty salon. We wanted to create a place that could be a one-stop place for people to come to and have everything done.'

The business has 12 staff which includes hair stylists, a nail technician with a nail bar, a registered nurse dealing with foot care, a doctor who will offer treatments such as botox, dermal fillers and skin peels and beauticians who will do spray tans, waxing and eyebrow work, There will also be a reflexologist and masseurs.

Mrs Green said in the future they hoped to hold special open days and cater for specific groups such as hen parties or for weddings.

Julie Platten is the reflexologist at the salon and said she would be offering 'a top to toe treatment' aimed at helping people feel good from head to foot, using a range of techniques including aromatherapy, massage, pedicures and Hopi ear candling which helps remove ear blockages.

Louise Ellis is a registered nurse and is the foot practitioner at the salon, helping with problems such as removing hard skin, calluses and ingrowing toenails.

She said of the salon: 'We are offering something a bit different and I think it is something which is needed in Cromer.'

The salon will be open on Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 5pm, on Saturdays it will be open from 9am to 4pm.
