A Norwich business will battle it out with the best in the UK after triumphing in the regional stage of the Barclays Entrepreneurs Awards.

KakeCo was the winner in the Start-up Entrepreneur of the Year category which recognises a company or venture with the potential to grow rapidly by exploiting a gap in the market.

The communications agency was founded in 2007 and seeks to understand the digital age, trends and in particular the 16-30 age demographic. It is now offering consultancy on innovation, digital trends and even mergers and acquisitions.

Kieran Miles, director of the Rouen House-based firm, said: 'Being recognised for our core consultancy business and the high growth projects like #Digitalcity and The Avocado Club, is really energising and shows the work we're doing isn't going unnoticed, especially by global companies like Barclays.'

#Digitalcity is an annual online trail around Norwich which gives participants the chance to find out more about the tech sector by going behind closed doors some of its most exciting businesses. The Avocado Club is a peer networking group aimed at millennials which has already expanded to other parts of the country.

The awards will take place on October 10 when the national judging panel will select its winners.
