Chris Taylor, from Sheringham, tells us about his job as a photographer.

Name: Chris Taylor

Age: 43

Job title and employer: Photographer, Chris Taylor Photo Ltd

My job in a nutshell: Photographing weddings, landscapes, properties, press photography, lifestyle portraiture, aerial photography - you name it, I shoot it!

How I got into my job: I've always had an interest in photography, ever since my parents bought me my first film SLR camera when I was about 12. I worked in IT for Virgin in Norwich for nine years and always knew I wanted to work for myself and do something creative, so when I heard about a photography course in the city I jumped at the chance. After a couple of years building up the business (Chris Taylor Photo Ltd) there were voluntary redundancies from the department I was in so I took the leap and haven't looked back since.

The most enjoyable part of what I do: The variation. One day I could be out walking along the coast taking landscape shots for my calendar, the next I could be photographing a beautiful wedding and one of the many beautiful venues we have in Norfolk. The job gets me to places I would never have seen and I've met people I never thought I'd meet. I've been lucky enough to photograph Princess Anne, John Hurt, Michael Palin, Stephen Fry, Adrian Edmondson, David Walliams, The Darkness and many more interesting characters!

Being self-employed is great, choosing the hours I work gives me such flexibility, I'll often be working until 2am processing images or designing albums, which then gives me free time in the mornings to go for a swim or head out along the coast road in search of landscape images.

You might not know this about my job: Actually taking photos is less than 50pc of my time, the rest of the time I'm post-processing the images and doing day-to-day admin such as emails, marketing and maintaining my websites.

My best day at work: The day the Olympic torch relay came through Norfolk was amazing, to have a seat on the back of the press truck and photograph the torch carriers as they made their way through Norfolk. There was such a buzz, it was a real honour to be involved in my own small way.

My first job: I used to be the landlord/chef/manager at The Red Lion in Upper Sheringham, it was a lovely little country pub with a great reputation. Sadly now it's being converted into houses but I have some great memories of working there.
