Bungay Primary School celebrate extension

A Suffolk primary school has celebrated the official opening of an extension.

Pupils, teachers, parents and invited guests all gathered to enjoy an Olympics-themed fete at Bungay Primary School as they marked the opening of the 600,000 extension.

The extension was first unveiled to pupils in September but, after months of fine-tuning, the school wanted to hold a special ceremony.

The development has provided two new classrooms, four refurbished classrooms, an activity space and new cloakrooms. It has also allowed for changes in the rest of the school, with the staff room, library and computer rooms all altered.

Headteacher Iain Owens said the extension would host pupils in their final stage of development before going on to the high school. He said: 'There is a real different feel to it. It feels like going into a brand new building and when the children go there it will be like going on to big school.'
