Authorities are still working to clear the A144 Halesworth to Bungay after a succession of jack-knifed lorries and snow drifts forced the road to close at 10pm last night (March 1).

A spokesman for Suffolk County Council said: “There were several reports of jack-knifed lorries yesterday which blocked the road.”

It is understood the vehicles have since been removed but work is still under way to clear the road from “heavy drifts of snow”.

The spokesman added: “Local farmers with ploughs are currently working with gritters to clear the road and it is hoped the closure will be lifted within the next few hours.

“Once open it is still advised motorists take care when going forward and using the road.”
