Briston wedding celebrations receive Royal approval

Celebrations in Briston to mark the Royal Wedding were given a boost with a letter from St James's Palace received by the organisers.

Jennifer Taylor, Jenny English and Joan Denton joint organisers of the Briston Royal Wedding Picnic on the village green held on Friday , had written to Prince William and Miss Middleton to tell them how Briston would be helping them celebrate their marriage.

A letter back from St James's Palace read; 'His Royal Highness and Miss Middleton have been overwhelmed by the incredibly thoughtful messages they have received in connection with their forthcoming Wedding and were immensely touched that you should take the trouble to write as you did. Your words were greatly appreciated.'

Briston Royal Wedding Picnic was attended by over 240 adults and children who all took their own picnic and then enjoyed wedding cake and choc ices given by local businesses, H V Graves and Norfolk Larder.

Celebrations included 20 children in fancy dress including several bridesmaids, Snow White and a pirate. They all received a Royal Wedding mug.

Ladies also came in wedding hats and joint winners were Jill Morgan and Sue McCrimmon whose stunning red, white and blue confections featured photos of the bride and groom.

Afterwards many of the guests joined in a friendly tug of war competition and then took part in the traditional Norfolk Long Dance, called by Chris Holderness, to music by Rig A Jig Jig before drinking a toast to the happy couple.
