While some community events can struggle to attract sponsors and volunteers, the annual beer festival in Fakenham has never had problems in this regard.

Lisa Mallett, who organises the festival with her husband Glen, said: 'Everyone wants to be a part of it.

'There can't be many events around that get quite so much support.

'The prospect of getting paid in beer definitely helps.'

The festival will be held for the sixth time this weekend, running from Friday through to Sunday, and has been renamed Fakenham Gin and Beerfest. This is due to the involvement of Fakenham's celebrated Norfolk Sloe Company, who made a welcome addition last year by holding the festival's first gin and cocktail bar.

The festival will be held at Fakenham Community Centre and features live music and a wide range of beers, including some from Norfolk companies, including The Norfolk Brewhouse, based in Hindringham.

Money will be raised for Fakenham Community Centre.
