Briefs encounter for anniversary couple from Newton Flotman

When 66-year-old Graham Green read in the Evening News about Age UK volunteers making pretty knickers to raise funds, he decided they would be the perfect 10th wedding anniversary gift for his wife Linda.

He presented seven pairs of the delicate drawers to his wife in a handmade heart-shape box done up with an elaborate bow at the Evening News office in Rouen Road, Norwich.

The couple, from Ipswich Road, Newton Flotman, were joined for the occasion by broadcaster Helen McDermott, above left with Mr and Mrs Green, Hilary Talbot and Christine Hinchliffe, two of the volunteers who have been making the knickers, and Suzanne Handsley from Age UK.

Mrs Talbot said the volunteers were working hard to make sure there were lots of knickers to sell at an Age UK Norwich and Age UK Norfolk fundraising event at the Bishop's Garden in Norwich on Sunday from 1pm until 5pm. Entry is 3.
