Bonfire night sets off with a bang at Fawkes in The Walks in King’s Lynn

Thousands of people flocked to The Walks in King's Lynn for the ninth annual Fawkes in The Walks 2017.

Kicking off the dazzling night was the lighting of a traditional bonfire by West Norfolk mayor Carol Bower.

The park was packed with an array of fairground rides, stalls and live music while revellers awaited the highlight of the evening.

But phones were soon pointed at the night sky as the evening ended with a spectacular fireworks display lasting almost half an hour.

This year, the free event, organised by West Norfolk council, had its own Fawkes in The Walks Snapchat filter, which proved a popular success.

Diane Ranshaw travelled from Sutton Bridge with her son Stephen George, 16.

She said she has attended the event every year for six years, adding: 'It is really, just what the community needs.'
