Bogus officials trick their way into elderly Sporle man’s home
Two men tricked their way into an elderly man's home, but left empty-handed when challenged.
The men, thought to be in their late teens or early 20s, claimed to be from the water board when they called at the house in Priory Place in Sporle, near Swaffham, at about 8pm on Sunday.
They said the pipes needed inspecting and one went into the lounge, while the other went into the bedroom once they were allowed in.
The resident then challenged the pair and they left through the back door when he asked them to leave.
After they left, he found the drawers of his bedside cabinet in the bedroom had been thrown under the bed, but nothing had been stolen.
Police said both men were wearing dark hooded tops and some type of white identity badge that the resident couldn't identify.
Anyone with information is asked to call DC Debbie Johnston at Norfolk Constabulary's Operation RADAR team on 0845 456 4567 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
