Body thought to be that of missing Norwich woman Sarah ‘Topsy’ Gardner discovered in river

The body of a woman, believed to be that of Sarah 'Topsy' Gardner has been discovered in the river in Norwich.

Police had been conducting a search of the river as part of the hunt for 60-year-old Sarah who had been missing.

The body was found in the water near to New Mills Yard in Norwich during the morning of Friday, March 31.

Formal identification is yet to take place but the woman is believed to be Sarah, who was last seen at her home address in Sprowston Road in the early hours of Saturday, March 18.

Police had been assisted in the search by the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service's underwater search and recovery team, which is about to close after funding was cut.

Investigations continue, but police have said the death is not currently being treated as suspicious at this stage.
