A section of a busy Norwich city centre street was left without power last night.
A number of businesses located in Timberhill and Orford Street in the city centre were affected, including pubs The Murderers and The Bell.
It is understood that the power was restored at about 6am this morning.
According to UK Power Networks, the power cut was reported at 8.55pm last night.
On its website the utility said: “A fault has occurred on a piece of our electrical equipment which controls the power to your home.”
About 19 customers were affected.
Phil Cutter of The Gardeners Arms, also known as The Murderers said the power had gone off shortly before 9pm.
He said they had reported the matter to authorities and decided to keep the business open.
“This close to Christmas you don’t want to shut. We got some candles out and luckily you don’t need electricity to run beer - gas pressure and gravity do the job.”
Around the corner The Bell had closed its doors last night.
