A black-tie ball hosted by a swimming school has raised £5,000 for charity.

Every penny raised from the Water Lilies Swimming School ball will be shared between Elizabeth's Legacy of Hope (ELoH), which helps amputee children around the world and Walking with the Wounded.

Victoria Bacon, joint-founder of ELoH, attended the event to accept the cheque with double amputee, RAF Regiment Sergeant Duncan Slater, who trekked across the Antarctic to the South Pole with Prince Harry in 2013 for Walking with the Wounded.

Teresa Griffin, owner of the independent swimming school, said: 'We received such an incredible amount of support and generosity from local businesses as well as from our fantastic community of families and friends at the swimming school.

'It has been heartwarming, and lots of fun too. Speaking with Victoria and Duncan we know that every penny of the money raised will help to positively change the lives of many amputee children in India, Siberia and Sierra Leone and wounded service men and women in the UK.

'Together we're helping individuals back on their pathway to independence.'

The event was enjoyed by more than 100 guests at the 16th Century Tithe Barn at Brome Grange Hotel near Eye.
