Hollywood stars including Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda join TV adaptation of His Dark Materials
The upcoming TV adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials has added several big Hollywood names to its team.
Oscar award-winning director of The King’s Speech, Tom Hooper and Logan break-out star Dafne Keen have reportedly joined the big-budget project.
Keen is in final talks to portray the central character, Lyra Belacqua, a young girl who finds herself caught up in a dangerous adventure after her friend is kidnapped.
Hamilton creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda is also thought to have entered negotiations to portray Texan aeronaut adventurer Lee Scoresby, according to EW.
Set to be an eight-part series, the show will span the length of the Norwich-born author’s epic fantasy trilogy, which includes Northern Lights, The Subtile Knife and The Amber Spyglass.
BBC commissioned the show back in 2015 along with Bad Wolf and New Line Cinema.
Pullman’s Northern Lights has previously been adapted for the silver screen. The 2007 film, called The Golden Compass, starred Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Dakota Blue Richards.
