Detectives in Wisbech last night urged a woman who helped the victim of an assault to get in touch with them.
An extremely distressed woman told police she had been attacked at about 3.55am on Sunday.
She was taken into Wisbech police station by officers after another woman, who was driving a 4x4 vehicle, flagged down a patrol car in the Coldham area at about 3.45am.
Detectives would now like to speak to the woman who stopped the police car, as they believe she may have information which could help their inquiries.
Det Con Simon Rust said: “I would appeal to the woman who helped the victim of this attack by flagging down a passing patrol car to contact me.
“This woman did a very kind thing in helping this victim. She may also have important information.”
The woman, or anyone else who can help the inquiry, is asked to contact Det Con Rust at Wisbech police station on 0845 456 4564 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
