Thrilled residents of a north Norfolk village received the perfect Christmas present after winning the People's Postcode Lottery.

Dog trainer Katherine Wells, 50, and her neighbour Rodney Taylor, 74, each scooped £25,000 in the Christmas Eve draw thanks to their lucky postcode at The Close, Aylmerton.

NR11 8PX was drawn as a winner of the Street Prize on Saturday and reality TV star Jeff Brazier, an ambassador for the charity lottery, visited the village to present them with their cheques this week.

Mrs Wells, a self-employed canine behaviourist, said: 'I can't explain how happy it's made me feel to win £25,000. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

'Dogs are my life and my dream is to one day have a little place with a big field to work with the dogs so this will help me work towards that.

'My husband would also like a new car and my son and daughter will get something nice.'

Her neighbour kissed the cheque when he realised how much he'd won.

Mr Taylor said: 'What a marvellous prize! As soon as I saw the advert for People's Postcode Lottery I knew it was the competition for me. You just have to have faith in your own postcode.'

Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £161.6 million to date for charities across Great Britain and internationally.

Ambassador Jeff Brazier said: 'What an amazing prize to receive on Christmas Eve and it was my pleasure to hand out the cheques to our winners in Norwich. 2017 could be your lucky year, so if you're not already playing People's Postcode Lottery, what are you waiting for?'
