Since the Waveney District Council handed over the landmark to the Town Council last year, the council have been working towards improving the celebrated space.

At the time, Beccles mayor Elfrede Brambley-Crawshaw said: 'All the money it makes will be put back into the quay. Now it is firmly rooted in the community we want to improve it just for the sake of it.'
