Churches in Beachamwell will open to the public for free on Sunday September 23, which includes a rare chance to visit one of the village’s ancient churches.

The Churches of Beachamwell event organised by the Beachamwell Local History Group will give people the opportunity to visit St Botolph’s Church, which dates back to the 12th century.

Those who attend will be able to view the set of late Medieval benches as well as a 17th century Jacobean two-tier pulpit.

In St Mary’s Church there will be displays and exhibits featuring the history and architecture of the various churches and information about their incumbents and the parishioners who worshipped here through the centuries.

In Beachamwell Village Hall an art exhibition featuring the churches in paintings, drawings and photographs will be on show and at 11.15am a guided walk along the local footpaths will leave from Beachamwell Village Hall to St Botolph’s Shingham.
