A radio presenter in Norfolk received death threats after being mistaken for a French rapper of the same name accused of inciting racial hatred.

BBC Radio Norfolk presenter Nick Conrad faced abuse on social media after he was mistaken for the rapper, who has released a song called Hang the Whites.

It was uploaded to YouTube but was removed four days later, on Wednesday.

Mr Conrad tweeted: 'I'm not the French rapper Nick Conrad. I've spent the past 20 minutes translating death threats! Crumbs my GCSE French is struggling to keep up with all the profanities. Some translate very well.'

He shared an image of a message from one person on Facebook, which said: 'You're going to die.'

On his morning breakfast show on Thursday, Mr Conrad said: 'I love France and I love the French and I visit frequently.

'As I was trundling back from work yesterday, I saw all these messages in French popping up on my phone. Now I have lots of French friends, and I have lots of friends who speak French and lots of family members who are fluent in French, so I glanced down at it and I thought 'that's interesting, I'll deal with these when I get back home'.

'Got back home, walked in the front door... Then saw all this vile abuse come through in French. Put it through a Google translator and there were a lot of French nationals claiming they want to do all abhorrent things to me.

'I was pretty thankful for the English Channel and the distance between me and my objectors.'
