The Barton Bendish community are being encouraged to take part in talks over the future of its village hall, as trustees are considering a project to extend and refurbish the building.

The trustees have said they are seeking the views of the community before making applications for funding to various bodies.

Robin Simon, one of the trustees, added: 'The ability to bring the community together for a whole range of social and educational activities is essential to rural life, and this project will ensure our ability to do so for the foreseeable future.'

Architects have come up with two proposals for the project which will be presented to the community at the public consultation.
