A community project to restore the Barnham Broom church bells has put the historic items on display for schoolchildren.
The restoration of the church bells is being supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Brian Liddell, secretary of the Barnham Broom church bells restoration committee, described the display of the bells as: “a wonderful opportunity to illustrate the community involvement with the restoration.”
He thanked the heritage Lottery Fund for their support of the project.
The five historic bells were displayed at Barnham Broom Primary School on Wednesday, November 29, following their lowering from the Church of St Peter & St Paul in Barnham Broom.
They were then displayed at the village hall ahead of their departure to the bell foundry in Oxfordshire for their refurbishment.
Once the bells are restored they will be returned to the church in Barnham.
