Dogs are a man's best friend - and now a Norfolk company has raised the funds so that one little Labrador can help disabled people.
Dog sitter Barking Mad South Norwich has successfully campaigned to sponsor a Dogs for Good puppy to be put through training and become an assistance dog for people living with disabilities.
Labrador puppy Prince was born on February 16 to Brenda, one of Dogs for Goods brood.
Helen Tyler, fundraising organiser for Barking Mad South Norwich, said: 'It is absolutely amazing to know that someone is going to benefit from Prince.
'Dogs are therapy for people and, working with people in Norwich, I can see the difference that they make.'
The money was raised through Barking Mad's fundraising activities, including coffee mornings, quizzes and making toy puppies out of face cloths to sell. They will support Prince through his important first year with his volunteer puppy socialiser.
Mrs Tyler added: 'It was amazing that we could raise so much by just doing little things like coffee mornings and the making the puppy faces out of wash clothes, people just lived them.'
It has also funded a puppy starter kit including a crate, bed, food, bowls, toys, identification, working jacket, collar and lead.
His name was chosen in celebration of the upcoming Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and also of the birth of Prince Louis, third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
More than £6,000 has been raised to help Prince so far.
Peter Gorbing, chief executive of Dogs for Good, said: 'Barking Mad has huge experience of the positive power of dogs and becoming a puppy partner to a dog that will go on to make a life-changing difference to someone.'
Dogs for Good, formerly known as Dogs for the Disabled, trains dogs to help children and adults with all sorts of challenges, including autism, physical disabilities, special educational needs and dementia.
Barking Mad South Norwich is continuing to raise money for Dogs for Good to train more assistance dogs throughout 2018.
