A woman who raised more than £130,000 for cancer research has been recognised for her achievements in the community.

Margaret Doggett was one of several people presented with civic and merit awards by Thorpe St Andrew Town Council.

Over the past 25 years she has raised thousands of pounds for research into the disease. She also regularly attends the Thorpe Luncheon Club.

Janet Fancy received a civic award for her long standing involvement in the Girlguiding movement.

Malcolm Martins also received a civic award for his work with the Thorpe History Group.

The town’s police community support officer Mike Seaman received a merit award for outstanding work in the community. He has been with Norfolk Constabulary since 2006.

Former PCSO’s Michael Olesen and Sarah Lyden were also given merit awards.
