Hundreds of members of a sports club in Attleborough are celebrating the completion of a major improvement project.
Attleborough Boxing Club, on Deopham Road, has completed a £90,000 extension and upgrade that has seen the refurbishment of the main gym and a hi-tech strength and conditioning room and classroom/conference area created.
As well as celebrating its new look, the club is also opening its doors to the community and local businesses as it will be available for general hire, corporate days and conferences.
Colin Kilby, chairman of the volunteer-club, said: 'Just seven years on from its conception, Attleborough Boxing Club's growth and success has been truly amazing.
'The club has grown massively over the last year with the new strength and conditioning room, as well as a new classroom and a refurbishment of the main gym.
'We have gone from an idea on a piece of A4 paper to one of the Eastern Counties leading boxing clubs with nationally regarded premises and a community-based sports hub that caters for all alongside a boxing academy.'
Mr Kilby said that the club's head coach Jon Dennis had been 'the driving force behind the club' and the club 'would not be what it is today' without him.
He added: 'We are only able to do what we do at the club due to the great team of volunteers that we have, as well as the massive amount of work that the head coach Jon Dennis puts in.'
Funding for the extension improvement work came mainly from Sport England's Inspired Facilities fund and Breckland Council with other funding coming from donations in either money or products from local companies, supporters and other grant bodies.
Attleborough Boxing Club has 200 members, holds boxing sessions for all levels six days a week, offers fitness training to members aged five and over and has 30 dedicated boxers on its books.
