Police are appealing for witnesses after a family car was smashed in a hit and run.

Officers were called to the scene in Woodrow Lane, Aslacton, near Long Stratton, where a car had struck a Vauxhall Agila at around 10pm Tuesday night.

A spokesman said: 'We currently have no witnesses or license plate details.

'A vehicle that was parked at the side of the road was hit by a driver who left the scene.'

Owner of the car Matt Purland said: 'We heard a very loud bang, as did the neighbours, but saw nothing when we looked outside.

'They'd disappeared. It was all over very quick, it's pitch black outside as it's in the middle of nowhere. I'd be very surprised if their car isn't badly damaged.

'I'm surprised it's even driveable. I would've thought the airbags would've gone too.'

Mr Purland's car was forced off of the road, where it was parked, and up the drive of his property.
