Norwich's arthouse cinema cannot return to its revamped home until late autumn because of further delays to the work schedule.
Cinema City - based at present at The Playhouse nearby, had been due to reopen with a new look and three screens last year after improvements to its ancient home in St Andrew's Street.
A year on, bosses had hoped to open last spring. But now they have confirmed that further pitfalls have pushed the date back to November.
The cinema closed in December 2003 for the work and is expected to be handed over by the builders in August, with the internal refit then expected to take three months.
Work on the makeover was held up because of spiralling material costs. By October last year it was due to open in May at a cost of £4m.
