An armed robber held up staff at a business in Long Stratton and demanded cash.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which took place just before 10am yesterday at the Howards Estate Agents and the Halifax Building Society, which occupy the same building in The Street.

The robber, who had covered his face, entered the estate agents and forced staff to move into the room which the building society occupies.

When he reached the counter he demanded money from the cashier, who handed over an undisclosed sum. The robber then left the building and ran off up The Street in the Norwich direction.

The man is described as white and about 5ft 3ins tall. At the time of the incident he was believed to have been wearing a dark hooded top and blue jeans and was probably carrying a bag as he ran off.

Witnesses, who may include people in a queue of traffic outside the estate agents, are asked to contact Det Sgt Bloomfield on 0845 456 4567, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
