Two men have been arrested and a firearm seized after armed officers raided two properties in Thetford.

Officers from Norfolk Police's firearms unit, as well as CID and dog units, executed a warrant on Guildford Way yesterday evening, February 3.

A separate address in Bury Road was raided at the same time.

DS Mark Glister, Thetford Police, said: ''Uniformed officers, as well as officers from the firearms, CID and dog units, carried out a warrant at a premises at a property on Guildford Way in Thetford yesterday (Wednesday 3 February) evening, and seized a firearm. A separate address on Bury Road in Thetford was also attended by police at the same time in connection with the incident.

'Two men were arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds PIC. They have since been released on bail to return at a later date. Police do not believe that there is any threat to the wider community.'
