Armed police attend Old Buckenham incident

A man has admitted himself into a mental health unit after an armed incident at a Norfolk village at the weekend.

Police cordoned off part of Old Buckenham on Saturday morning following concerns that a man was armed at a property in Oaklands.

Officers, including an armed response team, attended at about 8.15am on Saturday and told residents to stay indoors.

A spokesman for Norfolk Police said they were called following concerns for the safety of a man in his late 50s.

'Police attended the scene and the man voluntarily admitted himself to a mental health unit,' the spokesman said.
