A film producer and entrepreneur is planning a 198-mile walk around the perimeter of Norfolk in memory of a close university friend who passed away after battling cystic fibrosis.
Becky Demmen, 21, from Antingham, near North Walsham, is planning the walk, using the coastal paths around the county, to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in memory of actor Gary Higgs, from Holt, who died in January last year aged just 23.
Miss Demmen, who recently graduated from the University of South Wales with a degree in performance and media and describes herself as a film maker artist and entrepreneur, said: “I had been trying to come up with a fundraising challenge that seemed a big enough gesture for Gary, as he had done a sponsored walk from Cardiff to London.”
The walk will start on May 18 and will take several weeks.
She added: “Gary was a talented performer and a vibrant and lovely character. I want to raise to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust because Gary’s condition took him away before his time. Therefore, I have vowed to raise at least £5,000 through this and other challenges. Cystic fibrosis is a lifelong challenge; doing this is the least I can do.”
She has already completed a fundraiser in order to ensure she has the equipment she needs to do the challenge safely and she is now looking for donations for the charity.
